Amelanchier lamarckii

Snowy mespilus. An elegant and graceful shrub or small tree with masses of delicate, star shaped white flowers in spring followed by blue-black fruits in summer. Very popular with many garden birds. Pretty bronze tinged foliage in summer turning a superb red in autumn which is at it's best on neutral to acid soil. Height and spread when mature to around 6m x 5m.

Similar to Mrs Sinkins but better. Beautifully formed and spicily scented double white flowers with frilly edges are held on strong stems that rarely split from April until September. Compact mounds of narrow, grey green foliage. Good for containers or borders. Superb choice for cutting. Dead head to encourage repeat blooms. Thrives on well drained soil in sun. Hardy and easy.
