A sport of Bloodgood with finer leaves introduced in the 1990s forming a lovely small tree with dark red-purple leaves, turning bright red in autumn. Prefers neutral to acid, humus rich soil in dappled shade out of the prevailing wind. Hardy. Height and spread to around 2-5m x 1.5-3m. Can be shaped and kept to size by pruning in June after flowering. These ones have been grafted onto 0.9m stems.
