Cortaderia araucana (25lt)
Pampass
£45.00
A completely new variety of Pampass discovered in Central Argentina, Sierra de Cordoba by Compton, d'Arcy, Rix and Pope (collection number 3242) at 1800m on February 6th 2000. This is a collosal plant with purple miscanthus like plumes that mature to a creamy white to 4m tall! At first glance it could be mistaken for a miscanthus but on closer inspection is obviously a Pampasss but quite unlike any seen in cultivation before. A truly exciting addition to our range and many thanks to Jamie Compton who kindly allowed me to dig a piece off the magnificent specimen in his garden in March 2015. Any well drained soil in sun. This is a plant that commands attention! Never offered for sale before. Very rare.
