Chaenomeles cathayensis (3lt)

This is the largest fruiting ornamental quince that bears large red flushed, pear shaped yellow fruits in late summer/autumn that are beautifully scented and great for cooking up with apples or making jams and jellies with. In spring the branches are covered in clusters salmon pink and white flowers beloved by bees and other pollinating insects. A vigorous growing shrub, tolerant of most soils and reaching 3m tall and wide if left unpruned. Beautiful as a specimen shrub and works wonderfully when planted into a hedge. Rare and recommended.
