Hardy Tamarillo or tree tomato. Fabulous, large heart shaped green leaves, often purple tinted and veined. Purple blue flowers from May through summer are followed by oval tomato like fruits that hang from the branches and are good for eating raw or cooked. Reputed to be hardy to -6c but i would advise a sheltered spot in sun or part shade. Great to add curiosity and a tropical feel to the garden. Height and spread to around 1.8m x 0.8m.
