Japanese oak. Large, glossy and leathery evergreen leaves to this rare and beautiful large shrub to small tree. Suitable for a sheltered spot in sun or shade. Height and spread upto 10m x 6m but generally smaller in the Uk. Acorns on mature specimens are edible but taste bitter. Fertile, free draining soil is best.
