D. imperialis is a species Dahlia originating from Mexico and Gun Metal is a select form with soft pink flowers. This is a fast growing tree Dahlia reaching 4m+ in a season. Requires a long hot summer in order to flower well in the UK. Often grown purely for its sturdy hollow stems, outrageously large leaves and jungly habit.
