Hedychium ellipticum (15lt)
ginger lily
£35.00
Large lance shaped green leaves are arranged alternately on stiff upright stems that can grow to between 0.7 and 1.2m tall. In late summer scented creamy yellow flowers are borne in rounded terminal clusters with orange-red anthers. Similar to flavescens but with stumpier, more rounded flowers. This variety is surprisinlly hardy and should be fine left outside in well drained fertile soil and given a deep autumn mulch. In very exposed areas lift and store the rhizomes during winter.
