Sumptuous beetroot red strap-like leaves appear from bulbous roots in spring and fade to purple/green leaves by midsummer upto 60cm tall. From midsummer to autumn huge pineapple lily flowers grow from the centre of the rosette of leaves. Spectacular green and burgundy flowers folowed by dark purple fruits. Any fertile, well drained soil in sun or light shade. Works well with groundcover geraniums.
