Darkness as it is known is a rare form of albosinensis birch from Sichuan, China. It has dark chocolate coloured bark from an early age that peels to reveal a pink underlayer with a white bloom. Good yellow autumn colour. Height and spread to around 10m x 4-6m. Any soil in sun or part shade that is not too boggy.
