Large lance shaped green leaves are arranged alternately on stiff upright stems that can grow to between 0.5 and 1.2m tall. From mid to late summer dense spikes of orange flowers appear if well fed and in full sun.  This variety is surprisinlly hardy and should be fine left outside in well drained fertile soil and given a deep autumn mulch.  In very exposed areas lift and store the rhizomes during winter.
