Hornbeam. Elegantly shaped large tree with ribbed green leaves and a smooth, muscly trunk covered in grey bark. Suitable as a specimen tree, coppice, topiary or hedge. Height and spread to 25m x 18m. Any soil or position. Good for wildlife. British native.
