Alpine violet. Wonderful for naturalising under trees and in shade. Masses of either white or pink flowers appear from late summer until chistmas. Leaves (often marbled) appear midway through the flowering season and remain until spring. They then disappear leaving only the springy seedheads above ground. Easy to grow.
