Rare small tree or multi-stemmed shrub with an eventual height and spread to around 9m x 4-6m. Specimens of this tree can be found in Westonbirt, Holker Hall (Cumbria) and Edinburgh. Handsome, coarsely toothed, broad leaves are red/bronze tinted when young maturing green. Spindly, petal-less flowers on naked stems in spring. Fertile, free draining soil in sun to light shade and it should do well. A must have for the plant addict!
