Philadelphus maculatus Mexican Jewel (2lt)
A lovely form introduced from Mexico in 1990 by Compton, d'Arcy and Rix. Forms a bushy, woody shrub to around 1m x 60cm with narrow pinnate green leaves. In early summer the whole bush is smothered in starry white flowers with purple centres that have a scentsational perfume! Main flush of flowers in June/July with sporadic flowers produced throughout the summer well into September. Does best in well drained soil in sun or part shade. Ideal as a terrace shrub or for borders. Try planting near a sitting area to get the full benefit of the knock out scent!
