Common Juniper. British native species that is in decline in the wild. Short, pointed, glaucous green needles have a silver band running down the topside of the needles. Can be pruned to grow as a bushy shrub or as a tree. Unpruned height and spread upto 10m x 3-5m. Dioecious, so both male and female plants need to be present in order for berries to form on the females. An essential ingredient for making gin! Great for wildlife especially nesting birds.
