Flowering Quince, Japanese Quince. A spreading thorny shrub with mid-green glossy leaves. Deep crimson flowers with gold anthers from February to April. Will flower earlier if wall trained but lovely in the open. Green edible fruits follow, ripening to yellow in Audust. Spreading habit. Height to 3 feet. Any soil in sun or part shade. Hardy.
