Aloysia citrodora Spilsbury Mint (1lt)
Introduced from Argentina by Compton, d'Arcy, Rix and Pope in 2000. Similar to the well known Lemon verbena in many respects but this variety smells of fresh spearmint and seems to be fully hardy. Grows as a bushy, woody shrub to around 2.5m x 2m and gets covered in terminal panicles of small white flowers in summer. Does best in well drained soil in full sun. Little known and very rare.
